Live from the PDC 2009
Nov 17, 2009 Windows 8 News
Here we are Live at PDC 2009 (The Professional Developers Conference)! Chief Architect Ray Ozzie, best known for his role in creating Lotus Notes, is scheduled to be the main presenter this morning at PDC 2009 in Los Angeles. What can we dig up about Windows 8? I see tons of wannabe journalists and some actually talented bloggers, how will we be different then all the others? We’ll bring you the dirt!!, we’ll interview the top minds at the conference in the next few days to get all the best information. Like always, members of the Windows 8 forums will get the stuff we just can’t post here, all that leaked information, we try to get all our members to say things off record and sneak them into the underground circles of Windows 8 Forums, only members can see!
So here we go! … Matt Mullenweg was a surprise guest at PDC 2009 demonstrating Azure getting out of the preview phase and into production stage by using Wordpress as an example. Matt on stage does a demonstration of the many settings for back-end configuration using XML. We had a great talk with Matt Mullenweg at an automattic meeting in San Fran, CA and an author of Windows 8 News interviewed two years ago along with the likes of Leah Culver, Matt Mullenweg, Cali Lewis, Gary Vaynerchuk, and others. Host of I Can Haz Cheezburger blog has taken the stage after Matt, oh great thats all we need is stuff that makes the internet look cool the teenage girls! Crazy cats! Maybe we’ll hear some tidbits on Windows 8!
\3D glasses yay! NASA shows of Mars in 3D! So that’s where our billion dollars go to! I’m kidding, I love NASA! the landscapes of Mars makes me want to visit someday! Due to the government funding, this is all public data! Hey did I forget to say there is also a WOOT OFF at http://www.woot.com , I’m gonna miss my bag o’ crap today!
9:25am PT: They are bragging about Windows 7, oooo… huge wave of excitement!!! Quick back to Windows Azure and the CLOUDS! all this talk makes me hungry! technology all over: laptops, cellphones, and now talk on physical sensors within all these… how will this all come together? Apps! hey, didn’t Apple thing of that?
Clouds Clouds Clouds! Here is the Posted Cloud Application Model!
- Service-Oriented
- Scale-Out
- Always Available
- Model-Driven
- Staged Production
- Self-Service
- Federated
- Multi-Tenant
- Failure Resilient
- Elastic
9:40am PT: Getting sleepy with Don Box the attempted humor bores me but the crowd seems to like it, lets get to Windows 8 stuff right? I’m sick of Cloud stuff already! digging into code *yawn* I used to code… Basic code is still the best! haha those were the days! clouds and C code just tries to get ahead!
9:50am PT: Kelly Bluebook demonstrates a Silverlight. In my opinion, its all about edmunds.com, as bluebook is kinda outdated. Still nice for them to show the data center information, but still.. how much traffic do they really get? All the car makers will be selling on ebay, plus you pretty much get market prices on ebay, it is no longer such narrow markets!
10:00am PT: a new beta project “Project Sydney” so far looks like more of the same type of demos…ooo clouds and networking via the interwebs! What does Windows Azure really offer? connectivity: data services, service bus, and access controls. A donation to a good cause tho a charity of choice!!, how can the crowd not like that? kinda looks like the apple itunes app store… hmmm Announcing: AppFabric: caching, workflow hosting, monitoring, service bus, service hosting, and access control (.net? passports?)!
10:06am PT: ugh.. well here is the link for Windows Server AppFabric Beta I with Gold sometime within 2010… Azure sounds more like wordpress, a prepackaged kit.
10:13am PT: *pokes around checking emails… * wife wondering what I’m doing, did I do this or that.. etc … bank statement… hmm voicemails.. wonder whats going on in the big room?
10:24am PT: Oslo … how many more buzzwords can we get here? all the executives are gonna be harassing the underlining employees back at the shops.
I hate ponytails… why do guys have ponytails.. with the ugly blend of the background, my eyes hurt, its like an Apple event gone bad! Oslo was first annouced in 2007 at the CTPs… who knows when full release will be! “when it is ready”
10:30am PT: I love competition, with all this silverlight and earlier the release of Flash Player 10.1 version for Windows, Linux and Mac! But silverlight really needs to pick up momentum to catch up to the power of adobe! *snores* I wish they’d talk about Windows 8
10:40am PT: Ending with the windows azure plateform release dates, I’m bored… some PDC’s in the past have been interesting, I promise! Time to start networking! where are my business cards?
Check back tomorrow for Day 2 at PDC 2009! (hopefully not as boring at today! Stuff will get lots more interesting once Windows 8 on everyones radar!)
More to come!!
