Computers were scarce when Microsoft gained a sustainable advantage in the operating system environments. Now that home computers are abundant, we will see a shift from a Microsoft dominate operating system market into a balance between operating systems. Windows 8 Environment Consequences

windows-8-recycleIt is estimated that there will be more than two billion PCs in use by 2015.* Imagine that environmental impact if 75% of these computers use Microsoft’s Windows 8. If designed even slightly more power hungry then they could be what waste would that create?

Should Microsoft spend more time researching better options for little things? I could point out any major company with a global product, but Windows 8 will be my example, since this is a Windows 8 blog.

Microsoft released new Security Compliance Toolkits today to help Microsoft customers: plan, deploy, and monitor the security baselines of computers running Windows 7 and BitLocker Drive Encryption, plus many other products. You are given a choice of  preconfigured security baselines depending on if your within an enterprise or at home, once selected you apply the settings to your operating system and Microsoft applications. I hope Windows 8 will included this by default!
